treemaps are graphics that can show hierarchical data in a very space-efficient
way. Display space is divided up into a series of tesselating rectangles, one rectangle per data item. If an item contains further
data below it in the hierarchy, that rectangle is subdivided into smaller rectangles. Treemaps have been widely used in the last
decade for information visualization.
treeMappa improves on existing approaches by controlling the positioning of rectangles in a treemap
according to the characteristics of the data they represent. This makes treeMappa particularly suitable for the display of data
with a geographical or locational component.
