For me personally the diversity of this list and the subsequent debates
and the occasional lapse into inane humour, has made this site one of
the best things I have found on the net. I read, learn, lurk, and occasionally
contribute. At times I lurk awed by some of the academic debating mixed
with those on the shop floor. More importantly I take this with me and
have already planted small seeds that are taking root where I work which
will affect and improve practice, honestly!!!! long may it last, cheers,

I enjoy the input/information from other areas of the world. It is insightful.

The one thing I have really benefited from in these discussions is an
increased awareness of how our culture influences our understanding of
what is necessary in our practice. Adam Sargant adam.sargant@bigfoot.com
I have decided to take a year off however and just enjoy my home and
work but I am hoping to put something together to present at the Australian
and New Zealand College of mental health nurses conference in Melbourne
next year. I have to add that the discussion group has contributed greatly
to my learning this year and has helped me to develop more critical thinking
when exploring issues. Toni Woods shane.toni.woods@xtra.co.nz
Just a note to let you know how much I have appreciated the List over
this year. Your efforts have made a significant difference to both the
UK and global scene. The level of debate and comradeship is truly exceptional,
given the differences which exist between one country and another. Heartiest
congratulations. Phil Barker P.J.Barker@newcastle.ac.uk
The underlying level and standard of discussion within this group is
infinitely superior to many other lists, due in no small part to the list-owner's
hard work. Paul C. Stewart-Davies Stewart-Davies@cardiff.ac.uk
Thanks (a bit belatedly) for all the work you have been doing Len. I
have found (& continue to find) this discussion group to be stimulating.
I have "met" some interesting people & have been encouraged to pursue
themes on my own which were raised by the people in this group. So, thanks
for the past, look forward to what is to come! Rosemary Kohr rkohr@vichosp.london.on.ca
It's good just the way it is! There is a good mix of debate on a wide
range of topics. Brent Doncliff brentd@southern.co.nz
The list serves a valuable purpose. It links us together when we need
to be connected. That varies from day to day and person to person. Sometimes
I get support from reading other's intelligent postings, makes me proud
to be one of them, a psych nurse. Sometimes I get answers to my questions
and sometimes I can share. Recently, I posted a request for information/experience
with therapeutic gardens. So many nurses offered help, advise, contact
names, resources, and most important, encouragement to try it! Thank you,
thank you. We took your advice, wrote a proposal and you can share it
our pleasure, the administration of our psych facility has accepted the
proposal. We are developing a garden which will be for therapy with geriatric
psychiatric clients. Of course we still have lots to learn about horticultural
therapy, but we have begun! Keep you posted :) Dorothy dmcgee@julian.uwo.ca
Thanks to all of you who supplied patient rights information. I have
enough to go on with - for quite some time! What a resource you all are.
Leana Uys UYS@mtb.und.ac.za
Having left this group some months ago I discovered that I missed the
level of discussion about things to do with psych. nursing that this group
manages. So here I am- back again. Yours Terry Burridge Terry

Thanks for this. The list is doing a great job threading out implications
of Nick's request, Mike's response, Adam's response.... Ditto the thread
on acute settings. The heat, the intelligence, the commitments of all
sorts, the process are valuable - and not just the 'outcomes', 'truth',
'evidence' we may or may not reach, agree on, construct, etc. Steve Tilley
s.tilley@ed.ac.uk
I am also in the process of reviewing my Trust's current Observation
Policy and I am finding the comments made on the list very useful. Joe
Laryea joe.2103@lineone.net
I have found the thoughtful contributions made by Jon, Mike, Bob etc
(sorry others...but you're included) refreshing and engaging. They have
also given me a chance to make a considered rather than reactive contribution
to the dialogue that makes this list the rewarding, infuriating, enlightening,
irritating, compulsive, wonderful place that it is. … I'm a teacher in
a postgraduate programme. In a rational world I would give up and use
the course funding to buy everyone a computer and an internet connection
with a default to psychiatric-nursing. tony o'brien joanandtony@xtra.co.nz
Just had to tell the list how grateful I have been to be a member. I
have participated on many occasions, and lurked on others. All of the
time, I have enjoyed the information, the bantering and the different
personalities of everyone. Sharron E. M. Padden owl@DOWCO.COM
