Waves 4: Sound from a box guitar

Unfortunately (??) the PCs in the labs do not have sound cards, so you will just have to make do with pictures. Below are two sequences of pictures of the sounds genetated by the Box Guitar. The first is plucked near the middle, the second near one of the ends.In each case the bit of the picture on the right gives a picture of the sound packet as a whole, and the bit on the left gives a close up near the dashed line. What differences do you notice between the two?

One differnce is the amplitude, but this is just to do with my plucking/recording skills. The impostant qualitative difference visible is in the first image of each sequence. The one plucked near the middle is much smoother than the one plucked near the end, which is much more jagged. However the higher notes decay away faster, and by the end of the sequence the waves are quite similar.
