Research interests

My main area of research is in Bayesian networks. Together with A. P. Dawid, S. L. Lauritzen and D. J. Spiegelhalter, I was awarded the 2002 DeGroot Prize at the Seventh Valencia International Meeting on Bayesian Statistics, for our monograph: Probabilistic Networks and Expert Systems. published by Springer-Verlag, Berlin-Heidelberg-New York, in 1999.

Of particular interest to me are the following topics:

Together with Zoubin Ghahramani, of the Gatsby Institute of University College London, I organized The 10th International Workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Statistics, which took place in Barbados during Jan 6-8, 2005
I was one of a group of people in Europe who were funded by an Interchange Travel Grant from Leverhulme Trust (during the period of Oct 2001 to Sept 2004) to meet up and discuss research in genetic-forensic inference using graphical models.
The group had a set of web pages that I maintained, that may be viewed here.
