Founding Rationales:

According to the first article of its founding constitution: 'The purpose of this organisation shall be to promote understanding and friendship between the university women of the nations of the world, and thereby to further their interests and develop between their countries sympathy and mutual helpfulness.' The International Headquarters was set up in the eighth article 'for information and sociability' and committees of the organization were to be established for scholarships, exchange lectureships, hospitality and admission criteria.
