During those weeks the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust,
for example, organised ‘listening posts’
where patients, relatives and staff could express their
thoughts about what was done well and what wasn’t.
In addition, staff were offered the opportunity to write
on a postcard ‘I feel valued when…’
National Dignity Conference:
• Towards
the end of the two year project the central dignity team organised
a National Dignity in Care Conference with the aim of:
•
bringing different people together to talk,
share and promote dignified care
•
Demonstrating the work staff from both trusts
had completed on a local level to promote dignified
care
•
Our conference included different approaches to provoke
thought and conversation around dignified care
•
We used actors to present challenging situations around
dignity and dignified care
• Group work and discussion through which participants
were ask to think and talk about when dignified care went
well
• Patient and relative perspectives were presented
and listened tousing the educational DVD.
• Panel discussion
Other Conferences:
• The central dignity team presented
their work at different conferences such as at the “Inaugural
International Conference on Compassionate Care” on 11th
June 2010.
• A poster was also developed and presented
such as at the “Older People Stakeholder Event”
on 1st July 2010.
