What's New?

In this section, you will find a list of new or improved features documented in Version 5 Release 10 of Generative Drafting.

New Functionalities

View generation using CGR format
You can now generate views using the CGR data format: this lets you optimize memory consumption when generating views for large products, and generate views from third-party data.
Bi-directional modification of generated dimensions
It is now possible to drive a 3D constraint via a 2D dimension that was generated from it.
You can activate or deactivate this capability as well as customize the dimension colors via Tools->Options (see Enhanced Functionalities below).

Enhanced Functionalities

Creating and modifying views

Generative view properties
There are new options for generative view properties.
Section view creation on existing breakout definition
It is now possible to generate section views and section cuts from a breakout view.
View isolation enhancement
View isolation has been improved. Many annotations and dress-up items that used to be deleted when isolating views are now kept. Dimensions, center lines and axis lines are now isolated. The appearance of isolated curves has been improved. Also, it is now possible to isolate at once all views in a drawing thanks to a contextual menu.

Generating dimensions

Part instance dimension generation in a product
When generating product dimensions, it was previously only possible to extract assembly constraints. You can now extract 3D part constraints.
Redesigned Dimension Generation Filters dialog box
The Dimension Generation Filters dialog box has been completely redesigned.
Redesigned Generated Dimension Analysis dialog box
The Generated Dimension Analysis dialog box has been completely redesigned.

Drawing management

Interrupt drawing update
You can now interrupt updates involving several views.

Customizing

Skin cut edge dress-up
You can define the line type for skin cut edges when defining generation properties.
Only generate parts which are larger than a certain size
You can now specify that you only want to generate parts which are larger than a certain size. This option is available only when generating CGR views.
Prevent dimensions from driving 3D constraints
You can activate or deactivate the ability to drive a 3D constraint via a 2D dimension that was generated from it.
Customize the color of dimensions generated from 3D constraints
You can customize the color of dimensions generated from 3D constraints, as well as dimensions generated from 3D constraints that are not up-to-date.
