Interrupting Extension Lines

This task will show you how to interrupt manually one or more extension lines of one or more dimensions, either using the contextual menu or the Insert menu bar option.

 

aprereq.gif (1223 bytes) Open the Interruption_ExtLine01.CATDrawing document.

 

ascenari.gif (1364 bytes) Use the contextual menu or the toolbar:

1. Right-click a dimension and select the Object -> Create Interruption option from the contextual menu.

or select a dimension and click on the Create Interruption icon .

2. Choose in the Tools toolbar how many interruptions you want to create

 

3. Indicate the first point defining the interruption to be created.

4. Indicate the second point defining the interruption to be created.

 

 

ascenari.gif (1364 bytes) If you have chosen one interruption in the Tools toolbar, the interruption is automatically created on the closest extension line.

ascenari.gif (1364 bytes) Use the Insert menu bar option:

1. Select one or more dimensions.

2. Select the Insert -> Dimensioning -> Dimensions -> Extension Line Interruptions -> Create Interruption option from the menu bar.

3. Choose in the Tools toolbar how many interruptions you want to create

4. Indicate the first point defining the interruption to be created.

5. Indicate the second point defining the interruption to be created.

The interruption (s) is/are automatically created on every extension line of the selected dimension(s).

 

 

 

You can remove the interruption you created by selecting one dimension, the Remove Interruption option and then the extension line not to be interrupted any more. Interruption is removed on the extension line nearest the selection point.
You can also remove all the interruptions applied to one or more dimensions. For this, (multi-)select the dimension(s) and then the Remove All Interruptions option. Interruptions are removed on all the extension lines lines of the selected dimension(s).

 

 

ainfo.gif (980 bytes) If you move the dimension, the interruption will remain as you created it.
If you modify either the overrun and / or the blanking, the interruption also remains the same.
ainfo.gif (980 bytes) You can apply height interruptions maximum to an extension line.
