Graphics (module previously known as Group Projects)

10 lectures, 10 hours of practical

The use of computer graphics is now common place. This module presents the basic structures and techniques involved in computer generated graphics and their use in the user interface.

This module provides the basis for the 3D graphics course in MCS3.

Syllabus

Geometry: linear transformations, translations, scaling, rotation, reflection, composite transformations, non-commutability.
Drawing primitives: points, lines, DDA Bressenham algorithms, circles, fill area, characters, anti-aliasing, attributes of colour, intensity, style for lines
Colours: Colours for display and printing. Dithering
Files: File sizes, bandwidth, formats and compression,
Flash including programming with action script
AutoCAD - simple drawings and plotting.
