Biomedical Image Analysis Research

My area of research is Image Analysis of Biomedical Images. Within this large area of research I have concentrated on several lines. First, during my PhD I specialised in texture analysis. I explored all the common techniques for analysing texture, then extended some of them to 3D and proposed a new technique to select the most relevant features. I have also worked in tracking and segmenting neutrophils in cases of inflammation in zebrafish. Third, the microcirculation of tumours is very interesting as within the study of the blood vessels that supply tumours with oxygen and nutrients, and their role in cancer therapy, a considerable amount of data in form of images is produced. The development of methods of analysis that extract meaningful and quantitative information from these images is an important part in the search of understanding biological processes.
