Linear Algebra course material

This is the former course home page for MA2601 Linear Algebra. The syllabus for this course can be found here. Unless otherwise stated, all files are in .pdf format.

Exercises

Here are copies of each of the exercise sheets given out so far this year, and of any solution sheets associated with them.

Coursework assignments

Here are copies of the two assessed courseworks given out in 2001, and of the associated model solutions.

Other handouts

I have handed out notes on the dimension of a vector space and a review of matrices. I have also given out notes on the rank-nullity theorem.

Books

Those who would like another exposition of the material in this course (or simply a few more worked examples) may wish to look at some of the following books.

Those who like the more abstract side of the course might also consider

There is also an excellent free book on Linear Algebra available on the web:

Past examination papers

Brief revision notes can be found here.

Actuarial Science students should note that Section A in the 2003 and 2004 papers below contains the Calculus questions sat by Mathematics students; a version of this paper with questions from the Actuarial Science version of that course can be found on the Cass website.

The lecturer (and material covered) changed in Autumn 2001. Thus the remaining exam papers contain some questions which are no longer covered by the revised syllabus. However, many of the questions are still relevant.
